Just Maui'd

Most couples go on their honeymoon immediately after the wedding - but not so for busy first daughter Jenna Bush Hager. She and new husband Henry are currently honeymooning on the Hawaiian island of Lanai.

Forgive the Maui title - another homage to SATC. Oh Aidan! It was not because you said "We could get Maui'd"!

Hello Lover

Ladies, if you are a true shoe gal, I'm talking a my-savings-account-is empty-because-because-of my-closet shoe gal. . . then these Loubs' are the something blue for you.

I think I'm just going to keep the Carrie Bradshaw vibe going all week long!

Maybe she is the marrying type?

The wait is almost over! Sex and the City comes out this Friday, and we will finally get the answer to that burning question. . .does Carrie marry Mr. Big?

My vote is no. . .she's the perennial single girl! Stay tuned to find out. . .

Yes we Cannes

What was that? You're wondering if there have been any wedding-worthy looks at the Cannes Film Festival? Well perhaps nothing you'd want to carbon-copy and wear down the aisle, but there's plenty of gown-inspiration nonetheless. . .

Classic Flair

Inspired by one of my favorite pictures ever, this week Vogue's Most Wanted highlights a few elegant ideas for the blushing bride. Along with my new obsession, they also introduced me to the Charlotte Moss Townhouse in New York. Tres chic! Here are just a few of my favorite pieces - perfect for newlyweds (if they have cash to burn that is!).

Fabulous Flats

So, secret: After my wedding ceremony I changed out of my painful 4-inch heels into a pair of very comfy four-inch platform flip-flops. No one knew the difference. Well no one except the 15 or so people I whispered it to at the reception, since, you know, I was being so clever and maybe had started a bit too early on the champagne. I loved that I was able to dance the night away without cursing my footwear and still look elegant in my wedding pictures. Another option (for brides more than my 5'2") that I was reminded of by Bridalwave this week. . .

Oh snap

They pulled a fast one on me! I swear, I was half-way into a post on bachelorette parties while, I must confess, I was watching The Office at the same time. In the middle of the show I said to myself. . ."Oh snap! Halpert's proposing to Beesly!"
My heart skipped a beat and my stomach lurched. I pushed the lap top away and started biting my nails and watching as I remembered moments like this. . .
Sigh. This was it! And then. . .
Those stinkers! My favorite (fictional) Cornell graduate Andrew Bernard, seized the opportunity and beat Jim to the punch by proposing to Angela. Get ready for The Office Wedding Watch next season!

THANK you

Congrats to former "Bachelor" Matt Grant and his new fiancee, Shayne Lamas! Now that's what I call good television.

They "got down"

As requested, more pictures from what the President called an "awfully special" affair.

I really love Jenna's hair. . .no fuss.

A table setting inside the reception tent. It's hard to make out, but I love the multi-color flags decorating the tent. Goes quite well with the "house-party" dresses.

Father of the bride

After months of speculation about the details, Jenna Bush married Henry Hager this past Saturday in a ceremony that the President himself called "spectacular".

I really have to hand it to Jenna. . .these few photos really give off a casual, free-spirited and 'down-home' air. A far cry from what you'd expect from the daughter of the president, but from I've read, exactly what the bride wanted.

Millie Martin Bratten, editor-in-chief of BRIDES told the AP that in the end Jenna might turn out as a real trend-setter, as she "foresees future first family weddings that mix protocol and formality with creative individual touches from the bride".

Congrats and best wishes to the bride and groom!

I love these amazing signature chocolate bars from Apres Peau.

Each one pays homage to a different Washington DC landmark. A great wedding favor or treat to welcome any out-of-town guests!

Holy Metro-mony

Thanks to my favorite florist Jen (more on her soon) for sending me this recent article from the Washington Post on a couple who decided an a very alternative method of getting from their ceremony to reception. Rather than renting the usual limo or Cinderella-style horse-drawn carriage, locals Anneliesa Clump and Scott Alprin paid $1.65 (per guest) and took the metro. That's right, the METRO. At the height of rush hour no less!
After departing from the Historic Synagogue in Chinatown the couple and their dozens of wedding guests braved commuters, escalators, gawkers, potential delays and Wizard fans arriving arriing for last Friday's playoff game. When all was said and done, the ride took about 5 minutes and Clump and Alprin felt they'd been true to themselves as "city people". Nice one guys.
