New York Magazine's window-shopping Shop-o-Matic does the browsing for you this week and showcases 100 fabulous wedding invitations. Here are my favorites from the bunch (check the shopping guide for specifics on pricing):

Darling

I'm always looking for gorgeous short bridal gowns and I swooned when I saw this number on Zoe Kravitz.
Photo from Park Avenue Peerage

Yes, her stance is awkward. Yes, she has a totally put-off look in her eye. But the dress. . .loveliness.

Sister, Sister!

If you were 13 in 1994, then I'll venture to guess that there was a time that you, like me, didn't miss an episode of Sister, Sister. Come on, two twin girls separated and adopted at birth who only come face-to-face 14 years later? That's compelling stuff!

Tia Mowry, the brainier, more reserved of the two (I mean, I can only speak for the show), just got married to actor Cory Hardrict and Instyle Weddings shares the gorgeous pictures. Love the colors.

Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)

I try to avoid re-posting, but yesterday's guide from YumSugar is too helpful not to. Courtesy of their website, check out how to make these great do-it-yourself invitations with just some every day stationery supplies, and one or two tools available at places like my own personal Disney Land, The Paper Source.

First of all, I have to point out, these invitations are for a couple, Elena and Sean, getting married in October 2009 (if you're currently engaged, don't freak out, it is more than early to be working on invitations, but way to be prepared) at Lake Tahoe. . .their colors are orange and fuchsia with wood and khaki accents. . .can you believe it? Sounds jarring, but you have to admit it's unique, and it's actually growing on me.

First step. . .they composed their invitation text in a Microsoft Word document with the details of the wedding. They used Edwardian Script ITC in size 16 and printed out their invitation text on colored paper.
Next, they removed the upper half of two envelopes to create a sleeve.

A third envelope was sealed and covered with the decorative paper. They then lined the inside of the side panels with the decorative paper and set aside. To create a three-piece folding panel, they turned over the sealed and covered envelope and glued the top flaps of the two other envelopes to the back.

Next, they cut some cardstock down to 1/4 of an inch smaller than the folded-closed invite and created three pieces, one for the center and two for the sides.

Now they're getting crafty! With the help of some scalloped scissors they cut the text pages out to be roughly 1/4 of an inch smaller than the colored-cardstock pieces . . .. . .mounted the text on to the colored cardstock with the glue . . .and set aside to dry. They used a branch-shaped hole punch to punch out branches on the remaining colored cardstock.

. . .and glued to the edges of the text/cardstock. After that they glued the center text cardstock to the middle panel of the invite and folded to close and tied it with matching ribbon.

They lined the inside of another envelope with decorative paper, slid in the folded invite and they were ready to send!

Voila! The finished product!

Get ready. . .

. . .because here she comes! Gossip Girl isn't my only favorite lady returning to the scene (tonight at 8!!!), next month Vera Wang is expanding on her wedding empire and is launching VeraWangOnWeddings.com.

First available will be her new line of luxury linens which are looking as elegant as her tabletop and stationery collections. The site will also have inspiration videos from the designer and registry capability.

You know you love her.

Wedding of the year

Well that does it, my Vogue subscription is definitely getting renewed. I forgot to change my address during our recent move, missed the last two issues and was wrongfully beginning to think I could live without it. I figured, big deal, I really shouldn't subscribe to so many magazines anyway (hey, I'm down to two from my height of seven!). Then I was taking a look at IDoSugar's gallery of famous wedding dresses and I saw a picture from Vogue's coverage of Lauren Davis and Andres Santo Domingo's wedding. Dang it. Two issues and I miss the one thing I've been waiting for!

What a gorgeous photo. The extravagant ceremony was held in Cartagena, Colombia. The bride wore a Nina Ricci dress and designer Olivier Theyskens was on hand for last minute touch-ups. I'd love to tell you more but unfortunately I haven't read the article. If you'll excuse me, I have to go call customer service.

Short and sweet

This week The Reliable Source reports on Jenna Bush's upcoming interview with Vogue, where she reveals details on her upcoming May wedding. . .including sharing a sketch of her bridesmaid dresses.

Sister Barbara Bush is the maid of honor and the only real bridesmaid, although the first daughter is having 14 attendants (Texans call them a wedding "house party" - who knew?), all of which will be wearing short chiffon green, blue, yellow and lavender dresses by Lela Rose.

I love, love, love the dresses and wish more brides experimented with different colors and different designs. The article also spills the beans on Jenna's own dress selection, she chose the organza beaded Oscar de la Renta design (#12 here) that she describes as "simple and elegant" yet "still casual".

What Happens in Vegas

So the big-production fairy-tale-style wedding doesn't happen for everyone. Do it Vegas-style. . .no wedding planner required!

Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz star in What Happens in Vegas, out this May. Check out the trailer here.

Race to the Altar

If you're engaged, and were inspired as much as I was by Cody Helgeson and Jessica Mapel's October 2008 wedding thrown by the Today Show and Martha Stewart then now's your chance.
They're at it again. . .The Today Show wants to help you throw the wedding of your dreams, and the deadline is coming up!

Dazzling diamonds

Numerous setbacks this week (chief of which was Desi forgetting that he was already house-trained) kept me from finding a moment to open up this season's MSW when I got it last weekend. So, of course, I was thrilled when I took a well-deserved break tonight, opened it up and feasted my eyes on this gorgeous spread of wedding and engagement rings.
Bea-uti-ful! But . . .do they tempt you enough to want to take matters into your own hands?

No pictures, no pictures!

People magazine has photos of guests shuttling to and from Beyonce and Jay-Z's wedding this past weekend. Looks like there was a dress code. . .

Ryan loves Jonathan

I am so happy for my friends Ryan and Cathleen that I'm close to bursting. . .they got engaged a few weeks ago while vacationing in Ecuador.
Yeah, Jonathan is a nickname my husband decided to give Cathleen when we were back in college. It's a long story involving a sorority formal, a pre-party, and Cathleen saying "Hi, I'm Cathleen" and Jim answering "It's nice to meet you Jonathan."
Here's Cathleen flashing her ring at O'Sullivan's this past Saturday.
Congratulations guys. . .happy planning!

Wedding Weirdness

Beyonce and Jay-Z weren't the only ones to hold a celebrity-studded wedding this weekend. . .below are some guests at the wedding of celebrity stylist Estee Stanley this past Saturday, including Mary-Kate (not pictured) and Ashley Olsen (third from the left).

Um. . .creepy right? I'm guessing this is some kind of paparazzi-thwarting tactic but I don't know, it just seems plain bizarre.
To each their own. At least Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake gave us a peek.

Fit for a Marchesa

Wedding season is about to begin and in its honor the folks over at the Sugar Network just launched their latest effort at keeping you from doing actual work during the day, IDoSugar. The first story that caught my eye is one I heard last week. . . that designers for Marchesa Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig are launching their first collection of bridal gowns later this month. Exciting? Yes. But what really made me swoon? The website's pictures from Georgina's wedding to Harvey Weinstein!!

Stunning. Can't wait to see the collection.
