And now I know why they call them sparklers

One of my best friends, Libby, got engaged recently and her ring is STUNNING.
It shines so much it kind of makes me cross-eyed.
Gorgeous.

Here's Libby and her fiance Allen at their engagement party. They'll be getting married in October at a resort on Lake Michigan. Libby's responsible for some of the most fun nights of my life, so it goes without saying that her wedding is going to be a blast. And since she also works as a professional event planner, I know that handling all the the crazy details of destination wedding will be a piece of cake.

Back in the 'Burg

I went to William and Mary so every once in awhile I find myself back in Williamsburg for a wedding. This past October it was for my good friends Megan and Mike. Here they are looking pretty relaxed before their big day. . .

The reception was held at the very elegant Williamsburg Lodge. Megan and Mike had booked one of the Lodge reception rooms but were booted out at the last minute (something to do with a conference elsewhere in the building that passed their room capacity) and they were offered the spectacular outside grounds as a consolation. Luckily the weather was gorgeous, so their 'consolation prize' turned into a major upgrade.

I loved Megan's dress. She picked it up at Lady Hamilton Bridal and it looked fantastic on her.

They did a great job of weaving their colors of pink, silver and black throughout the reception.

My husband and I had a ton of fun getting together with the old college crowd. No one wanted the evening to end, including the bride and groom - they joined everyone in hitting the local bars after the big party!

Holy Shnikeys!

This is going to be a big one. The wedding to END all weddings. My college roommate Sarah, the girl I lived with for three years is getting married!

Here's Sarah with her fiance Sean the night they got engaged. They'll be getting married this June in Annapolis and I'm lucky enough to be a bridesmaid.

In between ordering pizza, dancing on tables and watching Tommy Boy over and over again Sarah and I talked a lot about weddings in college, so I really can't wait for the planning to begin!

The Plunge

As an event planner I've had the opportunity to coordinate a wide variety of events - from corporate dinners and book signings to exhibition openings and award ceremonies. I have a great time doing it, but to me, what's more fun and important than planning a beautiful wedding?

I run my own business as a wedding coordinator and I would love to help you plan your big day. Let's face it, whether they're the cause of your most recent hangover, the blisters on your feet or your mascara running. . .they're a ton of fun, often the party of the year and if you're the bride and groom taking the plunge - one of the most important days of your life.

This is a place to find tips and ideas for your big day, answers to questions of etiquette and all sorts of resources for the Washington, D.C. bride. Along the way I'll provide a look at what other couples in the area are doing with pictures from real-life weddings.

Look around and enjoy!
